Osteoporosis

Symptoms: The osteoporosis condition can be present without any symptoms for decades, because osteoporosis doesn't cause symptoms unless bone fractures.

Consequence: Osteoporosis would cause decline in bone density. Bones become fragile and vulnerable to fractures, resulting in pain and other complications.

Cause: the followings are the risk factors for developing osteoporosis:
Female gender
Family history of osteoporosis
Cigarette smoking
Execessive alcohol consumption
Lack of exercise
Low calcium diet
Vitamin D deficiency
Chemotherapy
Hyperthyroidism

Osteoporosis introduction: Osteoporosis is a condition characterized by the loss of the normal density of bone, resulting in fragile bone. This disorder of the skeleton weakens the bone causing an increase in the risk for bone fracture.

Treatments:
The goal of osteoporosis treatment is the prevention of bone fractures by stopping bone loss and by increasing bone density and strength.

Medication: Actonel, ibandronate, teriparatide

Physiotherapy: impact exercise training to maintain bone density. Balance training to prevent fall, thus fracture.
